Although they are a little unusual style wise, I have gotten many compliments on them and I wear them with almost anything. The upper is just canvas but feels durable and has held up well. They are comfortable both with and without socks but watch out for loose rocks getting in the shoe. All in all this is a great shoe that completely exceeded my expectations
