Summary: This has problems with Canon Powershot S2-IS
Comment: I have Canon Powershot S2-IS. I bought Centon 1GB SD card for the camera. I was able to take pictures and video clips without any problems for about a month. During my recent Niagara trip it started giving troubles. On our first day, I was taking short video clips of about 30sec-1min each. After taking about 5 to 6 such clips, camera showed a "Naming Error". Not sure what it is. After that the card was locked and I was unable to take any video or stills. I formatted the card in the camera. Then when I started the camera again, I was able to take stills. After a while I took another video clip and switched off the camera. Next time when I turned the camera on and previewed the images - some of the images were corrupted. This means, camera said "Corrupted data" for some of the images, but I was able to take few more stills. My hunch is some of the stills taken just before the video got corrupted. However, the video clip was intact.

After that when I switched off and switched on - I had "memory card error". I took out the card, put in back in - several times, without any success. I read in some reviewes that if you turn on the camera in shooting mode - sometimes the card error goes away. Tried that several times without any luck. So I reformatted the card again.

This time I was pretty sure that video capture was causing some problem so I decided not to capture video. I started taking stills. However, after 5 or 6 stills again I started getting memory card error. At that point I gave up and took out the card.

Fortunately I was carrying Canon 16MB SD card that comes with the camera. With this I was able to take quite a few stills with lowest resolution. I was happy with these pictures. Ironically, I thought that the Canon 16 MB card will be of minimal use but that's the one that saved our trip.

My recommendation is - if you own Canon Powershot, it is better not to use Centon 1GB SD card. I am not in a position to say that the card is bad or it would not work anywhere. However, my sense is that this card has some compatibility issues with Canon Powershot ( and may be other models from Canon).
